“…you know that’s one thing I never knew, my son said to me one day, ‘Well you’ve always lived alone.’ But the difference is, I never was lonely; mind you, I’ve got Snoopy to keep me company.”

“I must admit that when I moved here it was a lot quieter, much quieter. Now, to my liking it is getting a little too busy. Because over 20 years ago there was still little ways that you could go and there were still houses on the prairie, you know. But now it’s full of houses…full of houses.”

“I’ve got my own occupations, like today before I saw you I had to go to the doctor for my B12, tomorrow I got to ping pong, on Wednesday I’ve got to go to my optometrist, on Thursday I play ping pong again; so before I know it, the week is gone! And Sunday I always go to church, and apart from that, I walk Snoopy - my little dog - four times a day and that keeps me fit.”

"This is snoopy..."

“…he is six years old so I must have had him for at least five and a half years; he is very used to me. I can’t imagine it. [life without him]; I just can’t imagine it. I remember Dolly, she died on the island and it took me three months before I could get over it and that’s when I went and got him. And you know, had I been in my own house and not living down where my son lives, I would have taken his sister as well. I think he would have been happier because I have the feeling sometimes that he is lonely. Hey Snoopy? Are you lonely? Are you lonely you little shnootz?”

“I stopped playing tennis last year when it was getting so hot. I didn’t go because I knew I wouldn’t last a game, it was just too hot so I didn’t go; and I never picked it up. So that’s when I stopped playing tennis and [started to play] ping pong. I must have started maybe a year ago. I enjoy it actually, and with ping pong, there is a lot more action; much more movement than playing doubles in tennis, like I used to do.”

“I play with Helen, and she is a very good player and she was a very good tennis player that’s how I know her. She is very very good. She knows exactly where to put the ball you know; shes good! There is no denying it.”
